On Sunday, December 4, 2016, Huda Alkaff, Founder and Director of Wisconsin Green Muslims received the Sierra Club Great Waters Group ‘Environmental Hero of 2016’ Award. This Sierra Club chapter serves Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee Counties. Aaron Mair, President of the National Sierra Club, and Dianne Dagelen, 2016 Chair of the Sierra Club Great Waters Group, Wisconsin and their Executive Committee presented this award to Huda.

White House Faith Leader for Climate Champion of Change, July 20, 2015.

GreenFaithWaterShieldGreenFaith Water Shield Certificate. The Islamic Environmental Group of Wisconsin, June 22, 2015.

IEG is the first faith-based organization in Wisconsin to earn the national GreenFaith’s Water Shield certification. This certification signifies that IEG has taken educational, spiritual and practical steps to conserve water, protect water quality, and mobilize its members and community to do the same at home.

450,906 lbs. of GHG Emissions Prevented!

In celebration of the 4th Annual Wisconsin Interfaith Energy Awareness Month (October 2010), the Islamic Environmental Group of Wisconsin in partnership with Wisconsin Interfaith Power & Light helped to empower an estimated saving of 235,365 kilowatt hours of energy, $34,519 in energy costs, and prevented 450,906 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions!

356,186 lbs. of GHG Emissions Prevented!

In celebration of the Third Annual Wisconsin Interfaith Energy Awareness Month (October 2009), the Islamic Environmental Group of Wisconsin in partnership with the Wisconsin Interfaith Climate and Energy Campaign helped to empower an estimated saving of 189,348 kilowatt hours of energy, $27,747, and prevented 356,186 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions!

In celebration of the Second Annual Wisconsin Interfaith Energy Awareness Month (October 2008), the Islamic Environmental Group of Wisconsin in partnership with the Wisconsin Interfaith Climate and Energy Campaign helped to empower an estimated saving of 286,040 kilowatt hours of energy, $41,400, and prevented 539,170 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions!

ENERGY STAR Change a Light Pledge Leader 2007

122,700 lbs. of GHG Emissions Prevented!

During October 2007, the 1st Annual Wisconsin Interfaith Energy Awareness Month, the Islamic Environmental Group of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Interfaith Climate & Energy Campaign met their goal of obtaining 100 household pledges to use energy efficient CFLs. They helped to empower a saving of 84,600 kWh of energy, $7,868, and prevented 122,700 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions
